Phaidon
Close Faces
Design
2024
For a design project for Phaidon the aim was to create a book made together with Jürgen Teller built around extreme close views of women’s faces so the whole work feels raw direct and deeply human, and the focus stayed on the tiny shifts of skin light and gaze that gain weight when seen at such short range, and the pages were arranged as a slow steady flow where each portrait holds its own mood yet fits into a wider rhythm across all 360 spreads, and the process drew from soft tones sharp details and a calm pared back layout that lets the images speak without noise, and from there a coherent visual language emerged that links each face through a mix of closeness honesty and subtle tension.
